Tanzanite Rings

Tanzanite rings have become a popular option for engagement rings these days, often paired with diamonds in a tanzanite and diamond ring, this rare gemstone makes a beautiful addition to any type of jewellery.

Originally discovered in northern Tanzania in 1967, genuine tanzanite is a variety of the mineral zoisite, and appears to be coloured alternately sapphire blue, violet or burgundy, depending on the orientation of the crystals.

Tanzanite is heat treated in a special oven during the cutting and polishing process, in order to bring out the natural, vivid blue-violet colour for which it is famous.

Tanzanite Engagement Rings

Originally usually used in other kinds of jewellery, the tanzanite engagement ring has become, as we mentioned, quite a popular choice among engagement rings. Set in yellow or white gold, or sometimes in sterling silver, and often appearing with other types of gem, a tanzanite engagement ring can be a stunning piece of jewellery.

Tanzanite white gold rings in particular are frequently chosen, as the metal is beautifully set off by the amethyst purple of the tanzanite. Tanzanite wedding rings are less common, as wedding rings tend not to have a stone set into them, but they nonetheless can be found, or custom designed, as the trend toward unique rings increases.

Like diamonds, a tanzanite ring can be cut in any of a variety of shape and size options, with oval cuts being a particularly popular style.
